Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular disorders can result in a sensation of spinning, dizziness, nausea, motion sensitivity, headaches, sensitivity to light/noise, unsteadiness and loss of balance and may be caused by aging, inner ear infections, head trauma, concussion and certain medications. Vestibular rehabilitation is a specialized approach that helps to alleviate theses symptoms. Your physiotherapist will first perform a thorough assessment to help determine the cause of your symptoms and then provide a specific treatment plan to help you feel like yourself again.
Concussion Rehabilitation
Concussion rehabilitation starts with a thorough assessment to identify and prioritize your symptoms. The physical assessment may include testing of the head, eyes, neck, balance, and/or vestibular system. Treatment is based on assessment findings to help reduce and resolve common symptoms such as neck pain, dizziness, headache, imbalance, visual disturbance and difficulty returning to school, sports or work.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy uses very light touch to detect imbalances in the rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid and membranous or bony restriction in the cranium.
Gentle techniques are utilized to help your body reach a better way of moving and a more balanced equilibrium. These techniques are usually focused on the skull and the sacrum although areas along the spine and the extremities are sometimes treated as well. Our experienced physiotherapists who use the technique find that many people reach a much better level of function and healing after having craniosacral therapy.
Bike Fit/Running Analysis
Bike fit physiotherapy is a cycling ergonomics assessment that provides an in-depth evaluation of the person riding their bicycle, followed by adjustments to the bike to minimize physical stress on the body. Bike fitting can help reduce pain with cycling and will also help improve performance. This service is appropriate for anyone who wants help with physical struggles while riding - whether you are a commuter who rides 15 minutes to work, or a Grand Fondo Roadie. We fit not only road bikes, but cross, triathlon, and mountain bikes too!
During a Running Analysis, our physiotherapist will work with you, and use video review where needed, to slow down and isolate movement patterns that can lead to injury. Once evaluated, you are given movement-specific exercises and drills to address potentially harmful movement patterns. This is a very useful service for people with a history of injury who would like to run, or people who would like to get into running but are not sure where to start.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
A specially-designed fitness program tailored to cardiac patients. This exercise-based program helps participants form habits to improve their cardiovascular fitness with movement such as walking, cycling, rowing, jogging, and resistance training, and also addresses mobility and stability. This program can help you develop a framework to make a difference in your quality of life, physical wellness, and healthy lifestyle.
This program begins with a one-on-one visit with our Clinic Exercise Physiologist to discuss your goals for the program and assess your individual needs, including your physical abilities, medical limitations, and any other conditions you may have. Together, we will look at your risk factors for complications, particularly during exercise. After this visit, you can join the group classes for a 10-week program. You can choose to attend either once a week, or twice a week.
Exercise Therapy - In Person or Virtual
Our clinical exercise physiologist is a human movement specialist and will work with you to evaluate your physical activity, function, and movement patterns to recommend and deliver solutions for your health, exercise, work and social settings. They can help to “bridge” your transition from clinical treatments to being able to be independent and active. We can provide fitness testing, exercise therapy for injury and chronic disease, support for return to work, and lifestyle and physical activity planning.
